Spiritual Gifts Limited to the Apostles?

We're working through a series called "God's GPS" here at Effingham ARP.  That's Gifts, Passions, & Struggles--a clever acronym developed by Pastor Brian Phipps.

Some believe that all spiritual gifts are available to followers of Christ today.  Others believe that some are no longer available.  Is it possible that some gifts, such as tongues, were meant to be used at a certain moment in history while others are meant to be used continuously?

See what you think of these verses. I've added emphasis to the parts that jump out at me. Do they limit some gifts to be used only by the Apostles?

I'll post the audio of this 2 parter later this week.

Acts 14:3

"...So they remained for a long time, speaking boldly for the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands..."

Rom. 15:18-19

"...For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed, 19 by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ..."

Eph. 2:20.

...built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone..."

Hebrews 2:3-4

"how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard4 while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will."
